The ThisIsLife training programme’s core strength lies in its ability to build resilient individuals, not just through theoretical instruction, but through practical, life-oriented coaching, fostering personal responsibility, leadership, and community-minded thinking. By developing strong, confident individuals, the programme creates a ripple effect that benefits families, neighbourhoods, and ultimately entire communities.
Since its inception in 2002, the ThisIsLife training programme has successfully trained and empowered more than 5,500 individuals across various communities. This training has consistently demonstrated its effectiveness in equipping participants with the personal, social, and leadership skills needed to become confident, self-reliant contributors within their local communities.
In 1985, while pastoring a church in the Eastern Cape, we received revelation from the Holy Spirit to apply the Word of God more practically and teach using diagrams to help others understand the Bible. This initial concept has evolved over the years into a comprehensive Bible training course.
It is essential for individuals to develop a worldview—a collection of attitudes, values, stories, and expectations that shapes their thoughts and actions. This worldview influences their relationships with others and their understanding of God, forming the foundation for how they build their lives, ask questions, and form opinions. Therefore, their worldview plays a crucial role in their ability to argue and justify themselves.
Because Life is a choice, life should be built upon a Biblical worldview, an overarching perspective grounded in God's revealed truth, which guides our lives. A Biblical worldview shapes our Beliefs about God, Creation, Humanity, Moral Order, Eternity, and Purpose. Consequently, we teach individuals to choose life through the Bible, making our Biblical worldview our frame of reference.
Since its inception, people have had their lives impacted and transformed through ThisIsLife schools, helping those who were ready to quit receive a fresh start.
"ThisIsLife" is derived from two key scriptures:
The first is John 17:3: "And THIS IS LIFE ETERNAL, that they may KNOW the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent."
Here, "KNOW" (Greek: GINOSKO) means: 1. To know by observation and experience. 2. Experiential knowledge. 3. Something personally encountered or lived through. 4. Direct observation or participation in events as a basis of knowledge. 5. Practical knowledge, skill, or activity.
The second scripture is 2 Peter 3:18: "But grow in the grace and knowledge [Experiential Knowledge] of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." God desires us to grow through our experiences with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, observing these experiences and becoming skilled in the Word of Life.
Over the past 40 years, as God's plan for ThisIsLife has unfolded, several scriptures have emerged as foundational principles:
1. Psalm 119:130 (NSG): "Break open Your words, let the light shine out, let ordinary people see the meaning." *Many people don't read the Bible due to the confusion caused by theology (religion).
2. 2 Corinthians 1:13 (NLT): "Our letters have been straightforward, and there is nothing written between the lines that you can't understand. I hope someday you will fully understand us."
3. Deuteronomy 32:44-47: *"This Word … it is your life."*
4. Colossians 3:4: *"Christ who is your life."*
5. 1 John 1:1-2: *"Handle, scratch… The Word of Life…" (Practical application). *
