Loreto Convent School Pretoria
Loreto Convent School is an Independent Catholic School, founded in 1878. Mother Margaret Mary Jolivet, Mother Joseph Colahan and Mother Teresa Colahan opened the school at Loreto Convent, Nana Sita Street (was Skinner Str), Pretoria on 7 June 1878, with 20 pupils in the high school, and 6 in the parochial school.
As the educating family of Loreto Convent School, previously referred to as Skinner Street (now Nana Sita Str), it is our aim to establish a Christian Community, based on Gospel values and the Loreto Tradition, in which the potential of each person will be fully developed. We will strive to do this by evangelization, example, prayer, responsible discipline and unconditional acceptance of one another. By setting high educational and moral standards, we aim to produce well educated, mature, self disciplined citizens who will serve their own community and their country.
Loreto is proud of its rich history and will always continue to strive towards the ideas and principles held so dear, not only by the founding sisters, but also those of Mary Ward, upon whom the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (and the Loreto Sisters) are based.
Our Mission Statement: As the educating family of Loreto Convent School, Skinner Street, it is our aim to establish a Christian Community, based on Gospel values and the Loreto Tradition, in which the potential of each person will be fully developed. We will strive to do this by evangelization, example, prayer, responsible discipline and unconditional acceptance of one another. By setting high educational and moral standards, we aim to produce well educated, mature, self disciplined citizens who will serve their own community and their country.
