The Jakaranda Children’s Homes is a non-profit organisation (NPO) that looks after the welfare of 250 abused children in East Lynn Pretoria, South Africa. These children are removed from their parents and placed in our care by the South African children’s court due to: abandonment, neglect, emotional and physical abuse. Our primary purpose is to provide the children with clothing, housing, schooling, food, security and stability. In addition, we aim to provide the children with the necessary therapy, life skills and emotional support that they need in order to become responsible adults and curb the cycle of abuse.
Jakaranda Children’s Home (previously known as the Abraham Kriel Kinderhuis Pretoria) has been providing a safe, nurturing environment to children, aged 3 – 18, since 1987. The Organisation became a registered Non-Profit Organisation on 13 March 2002. The Organisation officially registered their new name on 18 January 2017. The Jakaranda Children’s Home provides holistic care, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We care for 200 children who are placed in our care by the Children’s Court. We provide them with therapy, medical care and a lovely home, where they can feel safe and loved. It is our goal to provide them with the necessary skills they will need to become responsible adults.
The Jakaranda Children’s Home is an affiliate to the Louis Botha Home, you will notice that some of our fundraising projects are done in conjunction. Also, many of the activities that our children attend are structured to include both homes.
