Cresset House Midrand - Residential care for adults with intellectual disability
Cresset House was formed in 1961 on a large property in Midrand as a school for children with intellectual disabilities. During the 80’s came an increased demand for facilities offering care to adults with intellectual disabilities, and so Cresset House changed the focus of its facility from children to adults. Today we have over 50 villagers who form part of our family, and together we live in on a property situated in Glen Austin, Midrand. Our community is home to villagers from a diversity of cultures and nationalities, making Cresset House a place of warmth, stimulation and nurture for those that call it home.
Our vision: To enable the highest possible degree of fulfilment for every villager, both as an individual and as a member of our community.
Our mission: To provide care to adults living with intellectual disabilities based on the concept of an extended family, in such a way that psychological, physical and spiritual wellbeing is enabled in a loving and caring environment.
Our values are the what makes Cresset House unique:
- We uphold integrity towards our villagers, their families and the greater communities. - We respect the environment which we live in and continuously strive to better sustain it. - We value & embrace the diversity of culture & religion that are in our community.
