Their extraordinary sacrifice of self is evident in their daily lives. Precious Blessings Home is a place filled with love where touch doesn’t hurt. It is a place where children experience that they were born to be blessed by tender care, love and prayers. Since 2004, more than sixteen children from South Africa and Ghana have been in the care of George and Heidi Versfeld. They have invested their lives in the needs of deserted and abused children ever since. George and Heidi celebrate thirty two years of marriage already. In the early years infertility thwarted their parenthood dream. When they abandoned their efforts to have a biological child, they were blessed by the birth of twin daughters! Thereafter they were blessed with one more daughter. After that, fostering and adoption became the result of their insatiable desire to restore young lives. Today, George and Heidi, together with their own three daughters care for their own two adopted sons and other children in their care. Days and nights are dedicated to feeding, nursing and investing in the healthy development of these children. They guard each child’s identity by encouraging individualism. They make life happen. This couple exudes empathy, patience and perseverance in the midst of tough routines. They instill trust in the children. Gradually normal behavior and relationships are learned and healthy self- esteem and identity blossoms.
