WELCOME TO ROYAL HOTEL PILGRIM'S REST Winding roads and mountain passes lead to the Royal Hotel in the historic and unspoiled gold mining village of Pilgrim's Rest . Backed by Mount Sheba , this low-key hotel is less than a a kilometre from the R533 road, 24 km from Lisbon Falls and 3 km from Alanglade House Museum . Here the atmosphere of the town has been successfully preserved, where gold was discovered over a century ago. We, at the Royal Hotel offer, a unique experience for a tired traveller. Being the only village in South Africa with National Monument status, we are able to offer excellent restaurant facilities that seat 300 pax, conferencing, year-end parties, weddings, etc. We have charming Victorian accommodation, that can sleep up to 110 people. Quaint rooms with brass beds offer en suite bathrooms, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. A cottage adds a terrace. Some have floral walls, claw-foot baths, sitting areas and/or fireplaces. Amenities include a traditional restaurant, a TV lounge and 2 fully functional bars, plus meeting and event space. Breakfast, organized activities and parking are available. We have WIFI facilities and Room service at request. Activities Include Gold Panning, Hiking, Guided tours, Robbers Grave and much more in surrounding areas. In Fact, we still see ourselves as a unique entity, not quite part of the modern world.
